About The Behavioral Times

Why do we do what we do — even when we know better?

At The Behavioral Times, we dive into the psychology behind everyday behavior. We cover everything from the habits we barely notice to the life choices that define us. Our goal is simple: make behavioral science accessible, practical, and deeply relevant without losing scientific depth.

We often act against our own intentions. But why? How do routines, habits, and unseen social forces shape our actions? Behavioral science offers powerful answers. However, many insights stay buried in academic journals. That’s where The Behavioral Times steps in. We translate research into clear, actionable ideas for anyone curious about human behavior.

Our foundational articles, science bites, essays, and resources are built on peer-reviewed research. We write for people who want to understand behavior — not just at work or in politics, but in the ordinary moments that build a life: how we spend, save, relate, decide, and change.

The Behavioral Times covers six key areas where behavioral science meets everyday life: finance, health, AI and technology, social behavior, organizational behavior, and sustainability and morality. We believe that better understanding the everyday behavior in these areas leads to smarter choices, stronger communities, and more intentional living.

About the Behavioral Times: How we work

To bring you the clearest insights, we combine human expertise with advanced AI tools. All our articles are researched, written, and edited by humans. They use AI to support clarity, structure, and creativity. Every piece is reviewed and fact-checked to ensure scientific accuracy and integrity.

At The Behavioral Times, we deliver clear insights rooted in science. We translate complex research into practical ideas you can use every day. Our focus is on relevance, depth, and real-world application. We show how behavioral science helps you make smarter choices — at work, in health, with money, and in your daily routines.

The Behavioral Times is for the curious — for those who believe that better understanding human behavior leads to better decisions, both big and small.

👋 About the Behavioral Times’ Founder:

The Behavioral Times was founded by Florien Cramwinckel, PhD — behavioral scientist, educator, consultant and author — with a deep interest in making behavioral science more accessible and applicable to everyday life.

Even as a child, Florien spent all her pocket money on books. She devoured everything she could find – she even read all Stephen King novels before she was 12 – and never stopped reading. These days, her focus is behavioral science: understanding why people act the way they do, and how we can use that knowledge to create better decisions, systems, and societies.

The idea for The Behavioral Times came out of a long-standing frustration:

There is a wealth of high-quality research on human behavior, but it rarely reaches the people or situations where it could make a real impact. Too often, that knowledge stays stuck behind academic paywalls, buried in jargon, or diluted into oversimplified tips that don’t reflect the complexity of real life.

Florien created The Behavioral Times as a place to bridge that gap.

Here, she translates rigorous behavioral research into clear, smart, and applicable insights — without losing depth. The platform covers a range of topics in within social science (and/or that somehow capture Florien’s attention). Always grounded in science, always written for curious minds.

At its core, The Behavioral Times is built on one belief: Behavioral knowledge multiplies when shared.
